DYNAMIQ

There's a lot in common between expensive yachts and luxury cars so it's no surprise that high-end car brands collaborate with bespoke yacht manufacturers. We've covered yachts from Bugatti, Jaguar and Aston Martin in the past and now it's Porsche's turn.

The German sports car firm has already tried its hand at yacht design with Singapore-based Royal Falcon Fleet to design a large three-deck catamaran. But although a deal was signed in 2011 to produce eight hulls in Kockums shipyard in Sweden, the superyacht doesn't seem to have seen the light of day.

The fun side of yacht ownership?

This new venture, a deal announced this summer with Monaco-based Dynamiq, will hopefully be more successful. The GTT 115 Hybrid will be stacked with the latest technology including, as the name suggests, hybrid motive power, based on a 1.2kw electric motor and two V12 diesel engines.

At 115ft the craft is deliberately smaller than some of the monster superyachts we're getting used to seeing.

The idea is to deliver space, performance and long range within a more compact form for jetsetters who "are ready to leave behind the hassle and huge costs of owning large vessels so they can enjoy the fun side of yacht ownership," according to Dynamiq's chief executive, Sergei Dobroserdov.

Porsche feel

As well as the interior using the same trimmed leather as a Porsche 911R, the sports car company's design studio came up with a look designed to appeal to "forward-thinking" yacht owners. That's a phrase that usually prepares the reader for something unusual and there's no denying it's a dramatic look.

Built in aluminium, weighing 198 tonnes and painted in "fashionable Rhodium grey" (which is probably completely different from battleship grey) the GTT 115 is finished to the highest possible standards.

Put your order in now!

Exclusivity will be assured by Dynamiq's plans to only build seven of these dramatic, aggressive-looking craft. If you're ready to embrace the fun side of yacht ownership, the company will help you in return by relieving you of a mere £12.3 million.

Have fun!
