We all love our boats, but lets take a moment to remind ourselves why sailing truly is the ultimate pastime.

Getting back to basics

In a world where we are constantly bombarded by screens, it feels good to take a break and get back to nature. Sailing is perfect for this as getting out on the water and enjoying the wind can be very relaxing indeed.

Expanding your knowledge and skills

Sailing is a hugely satisfying hobby. Learning new skills and gaining confidence, is all part of the experience. Being able to react to an issue and calmly fix it, brings a great sense of achievement. Every trip is different, and provides tons of exercise! It provides a different sense of freedom, and I always feel replenished after a trip out on the boat.

Appreciating Nature

Whenever I am out on the water, it reminds me of just how powerful nature can be. The rolling waves are both beautiful and harrowing. I think it is easy to ignore nature nowadays, as we tend to focus inwards rather than outwards. But being out on the boat, seeing wildlife around me, makes me conscious of our responsibility to care for nature.

Working as a team

Sailing in a crew builds a wonderful sense of camaraderie. You have to trust everyone within your team, and communication is paramount. It feels good to work together with one common goal. I don't know about you, but some of my closest friends are those who I have sailed with.
