Chris Hogan, 12th June 2015, Travel

Spitbank Fort
This could be a real treat - it's the smaller of two forts in the Solent operated by the same company. Starting from £560 per night for one of the eight rooms, there's a roof top hot pool and fire pit, sauna, steam room, fitness facility. There's also a bar/lounge, restaurant and arcade/games room. The price includes the boat trip there and back, lunch, dinner and champagne on arrival.
Booking
Strangway Beach House
This is a truly stunning seaside holiday house for up to 8 adults and 3 children on the beautiful beach in Sandgate, between Hythe and Folkestone on the Kent coast. Being right on the seafront, the decking overlooks the sea and you can walk onto the beach at any time you please.

West Usk Lighthouse
What can be more evocative of the sea than a lighthouse? This, the first of four on this list, is on the southern Welsh coast between Newport and Cardiff. The grade II listed building is over 180 years old, can accommodate eight adults and two children and there's a hot tub on the roof!
Booking
Sunborn London
This is a large, sleek yacht moored close to Canary Wharf in London, offering first class dining and entertainment. The floating hotel has 136 light and spacious guest rooms, all with bespoke furnishings and river or dock views, many with terraces. There's also an elegant restaurant, lounge bar, day spa and events suite.
Booking
Belle Tout Lighthouse
On top of cliffs near Beachy Head on the Sussex Heritage Coast, Belle Tout offers 360 degree views of the English Channel, beautiful countryside and the enigmatic Seven Sisters. There are six themed rooms with the original round Lighthouse Keeper's bunk room a quirky option, reached by a ladder.
Booking
Land Yacht at Poulton Plaiz
This is another slight cheat, as it's a boat, but it's on dry land on a holiday park! It's within easy walking distance of Poulton-le-Fylde which nestles between Blackpool and the Wyre estuary. Ideal if you want to take landlubbers on a yachting holiday!
Booking
The Titanic
The last of our 'on a boat but not really' choices, the Titanic is an apartment boat with accommodation for up to nine people in three en suite bedrooms. It's moored at Albert Dock, in the heart of Liverpool, and the interior design is based on the Titanic.
Booking
Old Higher Lighthouse Stopes Cottage
Stopes Cottage is one of two grade II listed cottages beside the sympathetically restored 18th century Old Higher Lighthouse at Portland Bill on Dorset's rugged Jurassic Coast. Comfortably furnished, there is shared use of the seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi and a short stroll takes you to Portland Bill itself.
Booking
Clare Island Lighthouse
This lighthouse is located on Clare Island, three miles off the Atlantic coast of County Mayo in Ireland, with a daily ferry service from Roonagh Pier on the mainland. There are a number of buildings in the lighthouse complex, every room and suite is en-suite and has underfloor heating, WiFi, iPod docking station, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. In the main house are the communal areas: the drawing room, dining room/library and kitchen.
Booking
Martello Tower Sutton
Martello towers are small defensive forts built across the British Empire during the 19th century; this one is now a holiday home sleeping up to 4 people. Built in 1804, Martello Tower Sutton is located on the north coastline of Dublin Bay, Ireland, with breathtaking views of the bay and surrounding areas, yet only twenty-five minutes from Dublin city centre.
